Systeme.io Review: Free Funnels, Email and Courses - The Limits
We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
By Kai Newman | Researched review, sources checked November 5, 2026
Selling online usually means paying separately for a page builder, an email tool, a checkout and a course host. Systeme.io puts all four in one account and offers a free plan with no end date. The real question is whether that free plan fits how you actually work.
Our research found that Systeme.io is a strong, low-cost choice. It suits solopreneurs, course creators and small agencies selling digital products. The trade-off is firm limits, some technical email setup and a few costs outside the subscription.
This review shows where those limits start to matter, so you can decide when to upgrade or look elsewhere.
This review is based on research, and we didn't test the platform ourselves. It draws on Systeme.io's official pricing, terms and help documentation, plus public customer feedback. Nothing here describes personal results.

What Systeme.io costs and what each plan includes
Systeme.io sells four monthly plans. The prices and limits below come from the official pricing page as checked on November 4, 2026.
| Plan | Monthly price | Contacts | Funnels | Courses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 2,000 | 3 | 1 |
| Startup | $17 | 5,000 | 10 | 5 |
| Webinar | $47 | 10,000 | 50 | 20 |
| Unlimited | $97 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |

The Free plan needs no credit card. It also includes one automation rule, one email campaign, one custom domain and up to 500 course students. Email sends are unlimited, which is unusual at this price.
One part of the pricing page promotes "unlimited students," but the specific Free plan FAQ sets the cap at 500. We've used the more specific figure. Some older reviews also list paid plans starting at $27, which is now out of date.
Paying yearly gets you "2 months free," according to Systeme.io. By that formula, annual totals would work out to $170, $470 and $970. Systeme.io's own affiliate page lists the same annual prices: $170, $470 and $970 a year, with free migration included on annual plans (terms dated April 2026). Confirm the final amount in checkout before you buy.
Before you buy, compare current Systeme.io plans and annual pricing on the official site.
The limits that push free users onto a paid plan
Most people upgrade for one of these reasons:
- Sales revenue: Free accounts have a $10,000 cumulative sales cap, not counting affiliate commissions. After you reach it, you get three days to upgrade before payment pages stop accepting new sales.
- Contacts: your list grows past 2,000 people.
- Products: you want a second course or a fourth funnel.
- Automation: one rule handles a simple step, like tagging new subscribers, but not a full follow-up system.

Inactivity matters too. Systeme.io's restriction guidance, updated October 7, 2026, says the dashboard can be hidden after six months without activity. A one-month data recovery period follows, so a free account isn't safe storage you can ignore.
Costs that sit outside the subscription
Sending email requires your own domain, so budget for one plus any mailbox service you buy separately. We didn't verify a specific registrar price. Paid subscriptions are also non-refundable under the current terms, so test on Free before paying.
U.S. buyers should know their contract is with ITACWT Limited, a company incorporated in Ireland. That matters if you care which legal entity bills you.
How funnels, email, courses and automation work together
The main appeal is that every piece shares the same contact data. A signup, a purchase and a lesson unlock can all happen without connecting outside tools.
Funnels and checkout in one builder
You can build opt-in pages, sales pages and checkout pages inside the same funnel. Checkout supports order bumps, which are small add-on offers shown before payment. Upsells, or extra offers shown right after purchase, are also built in.
Email marketing needs domain setup first
Systeme.io handles broadcasts, which are one-time sends, and automated campaigns triggered by what contacts do. Before any of that works, you must authenticate a custom domain through DNS settings and confirm your sender address. DNS records are settings at your domain provider that prove you're allowed to send from that address.
Personal email domains, such as a standard free webmail address, can't be authenticated. The help guide covering this was last updated August 25, 2026.
We found no independent study comparing Systeme.io's inbox placement with rivals. Don't assume it's better or worse.
Course hosting covers the essentials
Courses support modules, video lessons, downloads and progress tracking. You can also drip content on a schedule and lock modules until students reach them. It isn't a deep learning platform, but it handles reliable purchase-to-access delivery, which is what most course sellers need.
Automation rules versus workflows
A rule links one trigger to one action, like "when someone joins this list, add this tag." Workflows are visual sequences with delays and conditional branches, so contacts can take different paths based on what they do. That corrects older claims that Systeme.io automation is only linear.

The exact number of rules and workflows on each paid plan wasn't fully shown in the official pricing table. Check the live table if automation is central to your business.
A sales pipeline is now included
Current documentation describes a Kanban-style pipeline with custom stages. That's a board where deals or leads move between columns. Some reviews still say Systeme.io has no pipeline CRM, but that's no longer accurate.
A hypothetical example: from free guide to course access
This is an illustration, not a test. Picture a fitness coach offering a free stretching guide. A visitor signs up on an opt-in page, and a rule tags them as a new lead.
An email campaign then sends tips over a week and links to a paid course. At checkout, the buyer adds a printable workbook as an order bump. Payment unlocks the course, and modules drip out weekly.
That setup could start on Free, since it uses one funnel, one course and one rule. Adding branching workflows or a second product would likely require Startup or higher.

If that flow fits your business, see Systeme.io's funnel, email and course features before you commit.
Can small agencies manage client accounts on Systeme.io?
Yes, for basic client separation. Unlimited sub-accounts are documented on every plan, and each one inherits your main plan's limits. Workspaces keep each client's resources apart, with admin access or restricted assistant access for team members.
White-label resale, where you rebrand the platform as your own, is a separate matter. Its commercial terms weren't confirmed in our research, so ask Systeme.io directly before promising it to clients.
Where Systeme.io shines and where it falls short
Strengths
- One login replaces several tools, cutting integration work and monthly bills.
- The cheapest paid entry point among the platforms compared below.
- The free plan lets you make real sales.
- Agency features are available on every tier, including Free.
- Automation now includes branching, which suits more advanced follow-up.
Weaknesses
- Email setup requires DNS work that beginners may find confusing.
- Free plan limits arrive quickly once you add a second offer.
- Usage overages can lead to automatic upgrades on paid plans.
- Design flexibility and templates draw some user complaints.
Who should choose Systeme.io, and who should skip it
Systeme.io suits solopreneurs selling one or a few digital products who want a single, affordable tool. Course creators needing dependable delivery rather than advanced learning features also fit well. Small agencies benefit from client workspaces without paying for a separate agency platform.
Skip it if you need a polished community and branded mobile app, since Kajabi focuses on that. Designers who want pixel-level page control may feel limited. If you rely on specific third-party integrations, confirm compatibility before moving your business over.
If you are on the fence, try the Systeme.io free plan with your own workflow and see where it breaks.
What Systeme.io users complain about
G2's aggregated review categories flag a learning curve and template limitations as recurring themes. These are reported experiences and don't prove a universal defect.
Trustpilot's summary mentions occasional frustration with account settings and communication tools. It also notes mostly positive feedback on support and migration help. That summary is AI-generated from self-selected reviews, so treat it as context rather than a controlled study.
We found no reliable, recurring pattern of fraud, systemic outages, arbitrary lockouts or poor deliverability. The biggest gotchas are documented policies, such as the revenue cap and non-refundable subscriptions.
Systeme.io vs ClickFunnels, Kajabi and GrooveFunnels
All three cost far more at entry level than Systeme.io's $17 Startup plan.

| Platform and plan | Price | Key allowances | Main catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| ClickFunnels Launch | $97/month or $970/year | 10,000 contacts, 3 courses | Email capped at 50,000 sends a month |
| Kajabi Basic | $179/month or $143/month billed yearly | 2,500 contacts, 5 products | Conditional third-party payment-provider fees |
| Groove Pro (legacy) | $95/month or $795/year | Existing restricted free members only | Closed to new general enrollment |
ClickFunnels is a dedicated funnel product, and some advanced features sit behind higher plans. At the same $97 a month, Systeme.io's Unlimited plan removes contact and funnel caps entirely.
Kajabi targets creators who want courses, community and a customer app in one place. You pay a large premium for that polish, with a much smaller contact allowance.
GrooveFunnels is no longer a normal option for new buyers. Groove has announced it is becoming Scale.gg, and new Groove enrollment is closed, according to the official Groove.cm homepage.
Qualifying existing free members can upgrade to Pro until December 31, 2026, at 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time. For background, see our Groove.cm coverage.
The Systeme.io affiliate program, briefly
Every Systeme.io account, including Free, comes with an affiliate ID, so you can recommend the tool once you know it well. According to Systeme.io's affiliate page (terms dated April 2026):
- Commission is 60% of subscription revenue, recurring for as long as the referral pays.
- There is no application. Anyone can join free, even without being a customer.
- Referrals are tagged to you for life, but on a last-cookie basis: if another affiliate's link is used later, they get credit for new sales.
- Payouts run monthly on the 10th via PayPal or wire transfer, with a $30 minimum.
This matters for buyers too: an affiliate earns more when you pick a bigger plan, so treat any upgrade advice, ours included, with care. Start on Free and only move up when a real limit blocks you.
Systeme.io questions buyers ask
Can I sell a course on the Free plan?
Yes. You can sell one course to up to 500 students, as long as total sales stay under the Free revenue cap.
Does Systeme.io charge transaction fees?
Systeme.io advertises 0% platform transaction fees on its pricing page. Your payment processor still charges its own fees, so selling isn't completely fee-free.
What happens when I cancel or go over my plan limits?
Cancellation takes effect on your next payment date, and the account returns to Free. Check that your funnels, courses and contacts fit Free limits first. On paid plans, going over limits can trigger an automatic upgrade after three days' notice.
Can Systeme.io replace ClickFunnels?
For most digital-product sellers, yes, since it covers funnels, checkout, upsells, email and courses. Teams relying on ClickFunnels-specific features or integrations should compare those details first.

Is Systeme.io worth it for solopreneurs and small agencies?
Yes, for most solopreneurs, course sellers and budget-minded agencies. Its strongest benefit is replacing several paid tools with one account that you can start using free. The biggest limits are that Free is built for launching, and paid plans can't be refunded.
On value, the evidence supports a recommendation, since even the top plan costs about half of Kajabi's entry tier. Start on Free, map your workflow, and upgrade only when a specific limit blocks you. You can browse more options in our marketing platform reviews.
